Senior Primary Systems Engineer | Renewables & BESS Projects | 6-Month Contract

Embedded Expertise is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Systems Engineer to support the delivery of major renewable energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This contract opportunity will see you working across large-scale renewable energy and BESS developments, providing senior-level technical expertise in primary systems design, engineering studies, design verification and multidisciplinary project delivery.

About the Role

Working as part of a high-performing engineering team, you will provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of substations, BESS facilities and renewable connection infrastructure.

You will be responsible for developing, reviewing and verifying complex primary systems designs and engineering studies while supporting project delivery from concept through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead primary systems engineering activities across substation, BESS and renewable energy projects
• Develop and verify primary systems designs, calculations and engineering studies
• Produce and review primary plant layouts, earthing, cabling and trenching designs
• Undertake earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing and insulation coordination studies
• Support HV equipment specification, procurement and technical evaluations
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers
• Review and verify engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements
• Support construction and commissioning activities through technical advice and issue resolution

About You

You will be a highly experienced Primary Systems Engineer with a strong background delivering renewable energy, BESS and substation projects.

Key requirements include:

• Degree qualifications in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status (or eligibility to obtain)
• 8+ years' experience in primary systems engineering
• Strong experience delivering substation, renewable energy and BESS projects
• Expertise in primary plant design, earthing systems and HV infrastructure
• Experience undertaking and reviewing complex engineering studies and calculations
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills
